Jackpot

While the thrifting and scouring small towns brought us numerous epic finds, Portland provided one stop that was top of the pops. The Pendleton Factory Mill Outlet, a huge wharehouse filled with cut yardage, selvedge edges and entire bolts of the famous Pendleton designs. There was even a "museum" room filled with gorgeous weaved wall hangings. We were in heaven!!! All of us were filled with inspiration as we explored the space.

Crescent City

We found ourselves on the first night in Crescent City California. Not too many miles from the Oregon/Cali border.

Interior ahh-mazingness provided by the Curly Redwood Lodge. A perfect stopover point on the way to Portland, this 1950's motorlodge was built entirely(the interior and exterior) from one redwood tree. Instead of the usual round age rings, this tree had curly age rings. We inquired from the santa old biker front desk guy what made it curly. After much speculation and expert visits, it was determined to be a genetic defect. Whatever, some peoples trash are other peoples treasures. Biker santa said Liz she was a curly redwood herself....
